Our Vision and Aims
Masterclass is a registered UK charity designed to make higher education more accessible.
Masterclass strives to advance the education of young people enrolled in state funded secondary schools, sixth form colleges and colleges of further education in areas of socio-economic disadvantage.
Our programme stretches able students academically and raises their aspirations for higher education.
What we do
The unique features of Masterclass are:
- We target students from Year 8 to intervene early and support their ambitions.
- The charity takes young people from underrepresented groups outside of their usual classroom environment to UK universities.
- We run interactive workshops and lectures which are taught by university academics who are experts in their fields.
- Sessions are meticulously designed to stretch the students beyond the National Curriculum.
- Students and schools form a relationship with the university because they experience up to four visits there per year.
- Up to four visits to the same university helps to demystify access to higher education.
- At the end of the programme, students will 'graduate' from the course with a graduation ceremony which can be attended by staff and parents.
